Browse this tourism Web site with gestures

A new Kerala Tourism Web site will interpret your gestures and help you navigate through its pages.
Launched on May 28, http://when-it-rains.com has already received over a lakh visits, an official spokesman said here.
As the title indicates, it was part of the monsoon campaign launched by the department. It tracks movements and gestures made by a user in front of a Web cam and responds to them.
At least eight times as many have seen a Facebook post about the Web site, which has generated 13,000 ‘likes’ and 300 tweets till now.
The department claims this to be the first of its kind to be launched by any tourism board in the country.
Stunning images of the monsoon shot by Facebook fans have been used in the Web site developed by Stark Communications, official marketing and communications agency for Kerala Tourism.
Users may sit in front of a computer or even tap their smart phone to enjoy monsoon features in the State even before arriving here, said Suman Billa, Secretary, Tourism.
Hari Kishore, director of the department, described the gesture-controlled Web site as yet another step in extending to the world the many experiences that Kerala can offer to a visitor.
